Let's discuss the burden of proof. Atheists like to say that theists have the burden of proof, but is that really correct?
It is my contention that only true agnostics have no burden of proof. A true agnostic says we have no knowledge of God one way or the other. It's 50/50. Perhaps a conscious & intelligent mind deliberately created our universe. Perhaps it did not. We simply don't know and we might never know. A true agnostic is
FULLY open to explanations either way and doesn't take ANY position one way or the other. Such a person, the true agnostic, has no burden of proof because they aren't pushing anything either way. They haven't any axe to grind if you will.
But when it comes to theists and atheists we BOTH have a burden of proof. A theist claims it is more likely than not that this universe was deliberately created by a conscious and intelligent mind.
The atheist claims the opposite, that it's more likely than not that this universe was NOT created by a conscious & intelligent mind, that it's more likely than not that this universe is purely random and spontaneous.
Therefore BOTH theists AND atheists have a burden of proof.
