Let's say you see a post that says it will present a new and compelling argument for the truth of the Torah. By truth, the author means the Torah is historically accurate AND is the Divine word of God. Before even reading the arguement itself what would your reaction be?

A) I would try my best to be completely open minded. Before reading the argument I would not take any postion on it either way. I'm always willing to look at new ideas with a completely open mind and if I found it persuasive that would be absolutely fine with me. Then again, if it turned out to be unpersuasive that would be fine with me too.

B) I already believe the Torah is true so I would look at it favorably before I even read it and I would be inclined to find reasons to support it. I would hope it was a strong arguement and I would likely try my best to find ways to agree with and support it. If it turned out to be persuasive I would be happy about it.

C) I already believe the Torah is false and not the word of God (if there even is a god). I've heard all these arguments before. Even before reading it I would look with disfavor & skepticism on such an argument. I would try to find ways to poke holes in it. If it turned out to be persuasive I would be unhappy with that.

Unless you're answer is A (or very close to A), then aren't you just biased and blinded by your emotions and preconceived ideas? Is it even possible for you to look at these questions fairly and objectively? Shouldn't we ALL try to stay as close to answer A as possible? How often can you honestly say you look at theological arguments with an open mind?
